FOREIGN POLICY

Philip was to reign through the majority of the Thirty Years' War in Europe, a turbulent period of military history. The 1620s were good years for Spanish foreign policy: the war with the Dutch went well and the retaking of the City of Breda in 1624 went well too.
The triumph of Philip's government in raising a fresh Spanish army.Tensions with France were increased and the war was inevitable, it was all or nothing. The end of the war was recognized 
          in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648.
The true victory over France never emerged so Philip was desesperate for peace. Philip achive the peace with the Treaty of the Pyrenees in  1659.
