FOREIGN POLICY

He had three reasons to attack France: 
1. France was surrounded by Charles V´s territories.
2. Carlos V wanted to become Holy Roman emperor and the king of France, Francis I, also wanted it.
3. Those kingdoms wanted to conquer northern Italy. In the Battle of Pavia French king was defeated.

Suleiman the Magnificent expanded his empire. In 1529 he attacked Vienna. He tried to defeat them but the Christian fleet was defeated and the Ottomans maintained control over the Mediterranean sea.

He fought against the German Protestant princes in the Schmakaldic War (1546-1547) Charles defeated them in Mulberg. In 1555 he signed the Peace of Ausburg.
