DOMESTIC POLICY

In 1609, Philip ordered the expulsion of the Moriscos in order to demonstrate his commitment to Catholicism.
This caused negative effects in Spain.The Moriscos were the muslims that had converted to Catholicism during the Reconquest.This idea was proposed by Juan de Ribera whose views were influential with Philip.In order to complete this , the army transported the Moriscos out of the peninsula to other countries.
Philip reign was marked by significant economic problems across Spain.Philip and his valido, the Duke of Lerma tried to take care of the economic situation by imposing some reforms to taxes but they finally failed .
At 1607 Philip went in bankrupt.The crown try to resolve this by imposing some taxes reforms. In 1618,almost all Philip crown income was already assigned to his creditors.Finally the Spanish economy become dominated by bankers and lenders.
