DOMESTIC POLICY

Philip II tried to overcome the defects of this system. His methods have become famous. All work was done on paper, on the basis of consultas. In Madrid the king worked alone in his small office, giving his decisions or, as often, deferring them. Nothing is known of his order of work.
During his reign he had three important problems:

1. Antonio Pérez, who was accused of an
assassination was persecuted by the king.

2. Carlos, Felipe´s son, was very strange
and had a bad behaviour. His parents
refused his right to the throne so he became
crazy and he died in strange circumstances.

3. War of Alpujarras(1568-1560) in which
Moriscos revolted in Granada.
